PDR-Chemical Advanced Laser Polarimeter

The PDR-Chemical fourth-generation Advanced Laser Polarimeter (ALP) is a HPLC/SFC polarimetric detector that can be used in research and chemical, pharmaceutical, natural product and food manufacturing.

ALPs measure the net optical activity of the contents of their flow cells in real time. Measurement is usually made dynamically, as in a flowing HPLC or SFC system, but can also be done statically with a sample stationary in the flow cell. ALPs measure optical activity directly and with proper design exhibit no interferences and no nonlinearities across a large dynamic range. These selective and robust characteristics allow exactly the same optical bench technology to be applied from analytical to prep scale and production-level applications with good correlation.

Benefits include: universal optical activity detector; no chromophore required and no absorbance anomalies; broad applicability: pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, carbohydrates, pesticides, proteins, foods, flavours, fragrances, etc; sensitive, robust, large linear dynamic range (>100,000); fully automatic, no user adjustments or stop flow scans; consistent assignment (±) for enantiomers; real-time data - multiple scans not required; two internally generated calibration peaks; available for analytical, prep and process scale applications; confirm enantiomeric separation in method development; control fraction/peak collection in prep purification; long lifetime: 10 years of 24/7 operation.

Most ALPs are used in applications where the unique features of being sensitive only to optical activity and the absence of absorbance effects support an elegant solution to an analytical or process problem. Key applications include: analysis and QC monitoring of chiral compounds occurring in complex organic mixtures; HPLC/SFC method development; HPLC/SFC prep purification/fraction collection; process monitoring of chiral products.

PDR-Chemical also offers stand-alone software for automating method development and prep scale manufacturing, 10/20 bottle low pressure gradient mixers, 12/24 position column selectors with/without heating and cooling, and prep injector collectors. Automation bundles, AutoMDS and AutoPrep products include software, hardware, installation, training and support. These upgrade bundles can be installed on new or existing HPLC/SFC equipment.
