TdB Labs produces high-quality dextran, dextran derivatives and other polysaccharides for a wide variety of applications within the life sciences. The products are available in fluorescent and non-fluorescent formats.
The fluorescent dextran derivatives are mainly used for studies of permeability and microcirculation in cells and tissues, for studies of drug delivery or as molecular size markers. The fluorescent products include derivatives labelled with FITC, TRITC, ATTO-dyes and TdB Labs’ proprietary Antonia Red-dye.
The non-fluorescent dextran derivatives include dextran sulfates and charged polysaccharides with functional groups like carboxymethyl (CM), diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) and quaternary-ammonium (Q). One of the company’s most popular products is dextran sulfate sodium (DSS), which has been used to induce colitis in mice and rats for more than 20 years. Dextran sulfates of lower molecular weights are often used as a cell media additive or as stabilisers. Their blue dextran is often used as a void volume marker in chromatography. The phenyl-dextran may be used in the preparation of hydrophobic gels and coatings.
