Horiba Partica LA-960960 laser diffraction particle-sizing instrument

Wednesday, 05 March, 2014 | Supplied by: Scientific Solutions Pty Ltd

Horiba has released the LA-960 laser diffraction particle-sizing instrument. The company’s particle-sizing instruments are said to have strong submicron-range measurement capabilities.

The LA-960 incorporates the strengths of previous products over a broader range of sizes. The product has a wide measurement range of 0.01-5000 µ (up to 3000 µ for wet method). 3D data simulation, which generates scattered light patterns for Horiba’s original optical layout, is used for calculation.

The results can be compared with the theoretical results, including all the optical component parameter effects. This comparison allows for the selection of the best approach of the size and distributions. Certified samples as small as 20 nm can be handled by the algorithms.

The company provides a performance guarantee for high data accuracy of ±0.6%. The units are ISO13320 compliant and traceability support is provided. The instrument-to-instrument comparisons are confirmed with standards for each analyser. The testing material is a NIST-traceable, poly-dispersed standard of glass beads.
