Shenandoah offers animal-free protein products, manufactured without the use of any materials of animal or human origin.
Animal-free proteins are suitable for researchers concerned about the ever-present risk of contaminating human proteins of trace growth factors from foetal bovine serum (FBS) and animal-derived ingredients typically used in standard recombinant protein production techniques. Shenandoah’s animal-free proteins are produced under stringent protocols, with strict standards, and documented accordingly.
The animal-free production process involves no FBS or animal-derived ingredients, a non-mammalian production system (E. coli-based system) and a totally animal-free facility, fermenter, columns, filters, labware, lyophilisation and storage. The animal-free proteins are commonly used for stem cell cultures, serum-free growth media supplementation and other ex-vivo preclinical research.
