DPI attracts international scientist
As part of a major scientific collaboration, the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has appointed Canadian scientist, Dr Kim Lowell.
Dr Lowell is an internationally recognised expert in the use of spatial information for the management of landscape ecosystems. Dr Lowell commenced at DPI in Melbourne in July in a joint role with the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) through the University of Melbourne. For DPI he will take up the position of Statewide Leader, Systems Modelling.
Dr Lowell has had a long and successful 14-year career in Canada at the Universite Laval, where he was also the director of the Centre for Research in Geomatics.
He is well positioned to apply his knowledge to Australia having worked in Australia previously with many Australian government agencies including the Australian Greenhouse Office and the Bureau of Rural Sciences.
