Chief Scientist for Australia resigns
Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr has announced the resignation of Professor Penny Sackett, Chief Scientist for Australia.
“Professor Sackett has advised me that Friday 4 March will be her last day in the role,” Senator Carr said.
“On behalf of the government, I would like to thank Professor Sackett for her substantial contribution to the promotion of science and scientific research during her tenure as Australia’s first full-time Chief Scientist.”
Professor Sackett, a world-renowned astronomer, was appointed to the role in September 2008.
The government has begun the process for the appointment of a new chief scientist.
