Exporting to the US

Friday, 03 June, 2005

New Zealand's Parkside Laboratories has been appointed authorised sales agent by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for Australia and New Zealand in a development that will make it easier for companies to access the US market.

In the agreement, Parkside became the first laboratory in Australia and New Zealand to be appointed an authorised sales agent for UL.

Until now, manufacturers have been dealing with various UL offices around the globe for their certification requirements. UL has now designated Parkside Laboratories as its primary contact for manufacturers and exporters located in Australia and New Zealand.

UL and Parkside have had a relationship for over nine years. Most recently, both parties have been working together on an agreement towards Parkside's appointment as an authorised sales agent, which would benefit all exporters in this part of the world.

UL is a leading product-safety testing and certification organisation within the United States and obtaining the UL mark is critical for electrical and electronic manufacturers wanting to sell products in the US.

UL is an independent, not-for-profit product-safety testing and certification organisation that has tested products for public safety for over a century. Founded in 1894, it holds the reputation as a leader in product-safety testing and certification within the United States and has become one of the most recognised reputable conformity assessment providers in the world.

UL offers one of the conformity assessment industry's broadest portfolios of certification marks. UL marks have a high level of recognition in the marketplace among manufacturers, retailers, consumers and regulatory bodies, offering significant value to any product brand.

A UL mark may only be used on products certified by UL and means that UL has tested and evaluated the product and that it meets UL's requirements.

Parkside is an internationally accredited laboratory offering independent product testing and certification services to consultants, end users, designers and manufacturers of electrical and electronic products in various technology fields.

Services include electrical and electronic testing and certification, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, environmental testing, including HALT/HAST, energy meter certification, calibration, precision dimensional and volumetric measurement, a consultancy service for approvals of electrical and electronic products and CE marking.
