Minister to open new medical research facility

The Hon Tanya Plibersek, Minister for Health, will be at The Australian National University on Monday 13 August to open the third and final stage of The John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR).

The new $60 million wing includes clinical research suites and laboratories that will provide state-of-the-art research facilities for scientists working on understanding neurological and sensory diseases including memory loss, epilepsy and blindness.

The new facility will also be home to researchers in key fields including genomics, immunity, personalised medicine and drug design.

The opening, which will commence at 10.30 am, will be followed by a walk-through of the new laboratories.
