Bioinformatics events on the horizon

Friday, 26 August, 2016

EMBL Australia, the sponsor of the ABACBS (Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society) national conference, has announced that the 2016 conference will run in conjunction with B3, the Big Bioinformatics and Biology symposium. The event will be named AB3ACBS-2016 (pronounced “abacus”).

Set to be held from 31 October–9 November at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the event will feature an array of speakers, including:

The event will be followed next year by Galaxy Australasia Meeting 2017 (GAMe2017), to be held at EMBL-ABR’s headquarters at the University of Melbourne from 3–9 February.

Galaxy is a web-based platform for data-intensive biomedical research that enables researchers to perform, reproduce and share complete data analyses. It is also the platform on which the Australian-made Genomics Virtual Lab is built.

GAMe2017 enables life scientists to attend a whole-day workshop on Galaxy, includes a conference for all who use or are interested in Galaxy, and ends with a workshop for administrators who service users around the Australasian region. Attendees will participate in presentations, discussions and poster sessions all about high-throughput biology and the tools that support it.
