Azure Biosystems offers high-performance biomolecular imaging systems designed for sensitive, high-resolution detection across a wide range of applications. The biomolecular imagers support NIR and visible fluorescence, chemiluminescence and UV excitation for imaging western blots, gels, slides, tissue, plants, small animal models and multi-well plates.

The range includes the 200, 280, 300, 400, 500 and 600 series, combining 9 MP CCD technology with compact, benchtop-friendly designs. Multichannel capabilities support a broad selection of dyes and stains, including Cy dyes, Alexa dyes, Safe dyes, DAPI and Hoechst.

The Sapphire FL biomolecular imager combines laser-based excitation with a patent-pending three-detector system to deliver low-background imaging across NIR and visible fluorescence, chemiluminescence, UV applications and phosphor imaging. Its 25 x 25 cm imaging area accommodates western blots, gels, tissue slides, arrays, plants, multi-well plates and small animal samples.

The system supports live-animal fluorescence imaging of anaesthetised mice and samples up to 4 cm deep. A software-controlled 7 mm focal range enables imaging at different sample depths, with resolutions from 5 to 1000 µm. An optional chemiluminescence module provides quantitative, high-resolution chemiluminescence and visible imaging.

The latest Sapphire FL+ expands the Sapphire platform with a 46 x 25 cm scanning bed for large and oversized samples. It supports laser excitation from 375–900 nm, resolutions from 5 to 1000 µm, and a Z-plane range of -1 to +6 mm.

Its interchangeable laser and filter modules provide highly flexible spectral configurations, while PMT-based detection enables sensitive phosphor imaging of storage phosphor screens up to 20 x 40 cm with 24-bit dynamic range. The optional chemiluminescence module adds quantitative chemiluminescence and visible imaging, including femtogram-level protein detection and colour marker imaging.
