Azure Biosystems Azure 400 Chemiluminescent Western Blot Imager

The Azure 400 by Azure Biosystems is a multichannel imaging system designed for chemiluminescence, fluorescence, gel documentation, Western blotting, membrane arrays and related molecular biology applications. The system is engineered to support multiplex fluorescence detection for Western blots and other fluorescent biomolecules using common fluorophores including Cy2, Cy3 and Cy5. Up to three targets can be imaged and quantified simultaneously, designed to support efficient comparative analysis while reducing inter-run variability.

For chemiluminescent and colorimetric applications, the Azure 400 is designed to provide high-sensitivity digital detection with broad dynamic range, linear response and rapid image acquisition to support quantitative analysis. This removes the need for film-based workflows while maintaining sensitivity appropriate for low-abundance target detection. Supported applications include fluorescent and ECL Western blots, gel stains, Petri dishes and TLC plates, with true-colour imaging for both translucent and opaque samples. Quantitative imaging is maintained across low- and high-intensity signals, with signal saturation clearly indicated during acquisition.

Operation is managed through a touchscreen interface with preset protocols and user-defined control of exposure, focus, filters and illumination. Automated functions including autofocus, auto-illumination and auto-capture are designed to support reproducible image acquisition across routine workflows. The system has a compact footprint of 42×56×33 cm for bench-top installation and is field-upgradeable to Azure 600 specifications for near-infrared detection in the NIR700 and NIR800 channels. This modular design is intended to support future expansion without replacing the base instrument.

The Azure 400 supports fluorescence, chemiluminescence, UV and visible imaging applications, with a dynamic range of up to 4.8 OD. Additional laboratory integration features include optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance support, connectivity via Wi-Fi, Ethernet and USB, and compatibility with Windows 11 systems.
