CoolLED pE-300lite fluorescence microscopy LED light source

The pE-300^lite from CoolLED is a high-intensity white-light LED illumination system designed for fluorescence microscopy. Comprising a light source, control pod and power supply, it provides intense, broad-spectrum illumination and is useful for research laboratories.

The product delivers broad-spectrum illumination across the excitation bands of commonly used fluorophores, including DAPI, CFP, Aqua, FITC, TRITC, TxRed, Cy5 and many more. The system is operated via a remote manual control pod, providing instant on/off functionality and irradiance control from 0–100%.

Two configuration options are available: direct fit or liquid-light guide. The direct fit configuration is designed to deliver higher irradiance while reducing both purchase and running costs. For confocal microscopes, the liquid-light guide configuration provides a good replacement for traditional metal halide illumination. It enables samples to be viewed prior to scanning while helping to minimise photobleaching and phototoxicity.

For laboratories looking to improve safety and sustainability, LED microscope illumination offers significant advantages over traditional mercury and metal halide lamps, which contain hazardous materials. At full power across all three channels, the device consumes just 60 W — considerably less than some other LED illumination technologies, which can consume between 120 and 350 W.

With a long operational lifetime and a comprehensive range of microscope adaptors, the unit can be fitted to most modern and older microscope systems.
