The CoolLED pE-300ultra is a high-performance fluorescence microscopy illumination system designed to provide intense, broad-spectrum LED excitation for imaging of the majority of commonly used fluorophores. Designed for flexibility and precision, it is engineered to deliver exceptional optical performance while supporting a wide range of fluorescence imaging applications.

Microsecond switching via multiple TTL inputs is designed to enable the capture of fast biological events, while integrated inline excitation filter holders allow rapid and flexible filter configurations. When combined with modern high-performance multi-band filter sets, the pE-300ultra can replace traditional white light sources and filter wheels, delivering all the advantages of LED illumination, including greater stability, faster switching and improved reliability.

Advances in LED technology have significantly enhanced the system’s performance, with the latest generation delivering up to twice the irradiance at the sample plane compared with earlier models. A direct-fit version is also available, providing even higher irradiance while reducing both acquisition and operating costs through fewer consumable components. The pE-300ultra is also ACT Label certified, making it an environmentally responsible choice for fluorescence microscopy laboratories.

The system is compatible with existing single-band and multi-band filter sets, eliminating the need to purchase new filters. Instant on/off operation removes the requirement for shutters and eliminates warm-up or cool-down times, while simple installation requires no optical alignment beyond an initial one-time adjustment. Stable, repeatable illumination is designed to ensure reliable and consistent imaging results, and a wide range of microscope adaptors is designed to enable compatibility with most major microscope platforms.

Users can precisely adjust illumination intensity from 0–100% in 1% increments without the need for neutral density filters. Excellent illumination uniformity is maintained across the entire field of view without ongoing alignment, while long-life LED technology reduces maintenance requirements and operating costs. Removable inline excitation filter holders contain no moving parts, enhancing reliability, and individual LED channels can be triggered independently via TTL inputs with microsecond switching speeds. Sequence Runner functionality further simplifies automated imaging by enabling sequential excitation from a single TTL output.
