CoolLED pE-800fura LED microscope illuminator

The pE-800^fura LED microscope illuminator, from CoolLED, enables ultrafast calcium imaging, pH monitoring, ratiometric fluorescence, FRET and routine fluorescence microscopy. The system comprises a pE-800^fura light source, eight-position excitation filter holder, filters for Fura-2 and power supply. Light delivery is via the standard 3 mm liquid light guide.

Features include eight powerful LEDs spanning 340–635 nm to cover all popular calcium and pH indicators, fluorophores and opsins from Fura-2 to Cy5. Dynamic events can be captured at high temporal resolution and the accuracy of ratiometric measurements with <7 µs TTL triggering can be enhanced.

Inline excitation filters and their Sequence Runner for triggering illumination sequences with just a single TTL-out of a camera transforms a manual microscope into a powerful automated imaging system. Comprehensive controls, such as fine irradiance modulation and individual channel switching, protect samples from phototoxicity and photobleaching, which is useful for time-lapse imaging.

In addition to electronic, analog and GUI control via The LightBridge, full support is available in several imaging software platforms, including NIS Elements and µManager. Integration in cellSens is achieved using the pE-6501-8-FR USB-controlled TTL trigger box.
