FTIR spectrometer series

Tuesday, 01 July, 2008 | Supplied by: Varian Australia Pty Ltd

Varian has announced its 600-IR series of FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrometers, microscopes and imaging solutions. The series comprises a range of products for both routine analyses and advanced research.

FTIR spectroscopy provides a simple, fast analytical tool to identify or characterise samples in a wide range of applications from QA/QC testing of raw materials in pharmaceutical laboratories to the detection of trace amounts of explosives of narcotics in forensic analysis.

It can also reveal the chemical fingerprint of a material, even in mixtures, allowing multiple materials to be identified simultaneously. Commonly used with a wide range of accessories such as ATR (attenuated total reflectance), microscopes and imaging, FTIR has pioneered new applications in areas such as biotechnology, food and agriculture and homeland security.

The series has intuitive software and plug-and-play hardware to simplify analyses and maximise output.
