Gas chromatographs

Varian has released its 400 GC series family of gas chromatographs and application-specific analysis solutions.

The series consists of two gas chromatographs and an associated range of analysers and solutions designed for both standard analysers and custom applications.

The 450-GC is an analytical instrument with robust operation in an easy-to-use package.

The instrument offers users a broad array of inlets and detectors, together with many standard and customisable gas and liquid valve systems. The high-resolution colour touch screen/user interface is intuitive to use, easy to read from a distance and can be adapted to support local languages.

Optional UltiMetal treatment, renders all internal stainless steel components inert to maximise trace sensitivity and deliver improved performance for difficult samples.

The Varian 430-GC offers the same performance as the 450-GC but in a compact, single channel package that occupies about half the bench space of conventional multichannel GCs.

The company has updated its GC analysis users to accommodate the latest changes to petrochemical industry-standard methods and introduces solutions for biodiesel analysis. Both the 430 and 450 incorporate the latest column technology including FactorFour VF-WAXms, claimed to be the world’s first capillary column with a stabilised wax stationary phase and the Select biodiesel glycerides column, said to be the first high-resolution metal capillary column specifically designed to withstand triglycerides analysis at high temperature over extended periods.

The 400 series uses Galaxie chromatography data system software.
