HPLC columns for reduced acetonitrile use

Monday, 10 August, 2009 | Supplied by: Merck

The increased efficiency of the Fused-Core particle in the Ascentis Express HPLC columns enables users to use shorter columns and save acetonitrile by more than 70%.

Based on Fused-Core particle technology, Ascentis Express provides the high speed and high efficiency of sub-2 µm particles, but at approximately half the backpressure for the same length. This lower pressure means that Ascentis Express can be run on conventional HPLC and LC-MS systems, as well as mid-pressure, UPLC and other ultra-high-pressure systems.

The Ascentis Express column is ultra-pure, Type B silica, 1.7 µm solid core particle with 0.5 µm porous silica shell (effective 2.7 µm), 150 m2/g surface area (comparable to ~225 m2/g (porous particle), and 90 Ã… pore size.

The columns are available in C18, C8, HILIC and RP-Amide phases and various capillary and analytical sizes.
