Jenoptik has released the ProgRes Star digital microscope camera system. It combines a three megapixel colour CCD with sophisticated 12 bit readout circuit technology.

The result is a low noise camera system with good linearity of colour image data within its full dynamic range of more than 63 dB. Together with the adaptive contrast technology used in the Star Capture image acquisition software, the camera system delivers high contrast images even of low-light specimens. Fluorescence microscopy is not a unique field for monochrome cameras anymore.

The camera is equipped with FireWire and several automated functions that make high definition image capturing comfortable and easy. Among the automated functions is the modular control software including time lapse imaging, live shading correction and more.
