The EM N2 1024 back-illuminated EMCCD camera by Nüvü Camēras is a fully customisable EMCCD camera for optimal performance and offers a high signal-to-noise ratio for photon counting in low-light imaging applications. Fields of application include fluorescence and bioluminescence, spectroscopy, super resolution, OEM and astronomy.

The camera supports three standard EMCCD detector sizes (128 x 128, 512 x 512 and 1024 x 1024) in addition to custom sizes for specific requirements. The detector is cooled down to -110°C for applications that require low thermal noise, especially during long exposures. A standard C-mount with built-in shutter for dark frame acquisition is also included. Frame rates exceed 16.7 fps in full frame at 20 MHz readout rate.

With the liquid nitrogen cooling system, the camera reaches its prime performance due to the company’s CCCP technology, allowing low clock-induced charge (CIC) levels. In turn, this makes greater EM gain attainable to achieve negligible sub-electron readout noise and high horizontal charge transfer efficiency (CTE) for clearer images — without deformation due to pixel leaking. A software development kit (SDK) is also included for customisable programming in Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 and Linux.
