Polarised FTIR measurements

Thursday, 01 January, 2009 | Supplied by: PerkinElmer (Australia) Pty Ltd

PerkinElmer has released a Universal Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) polarisation accessory, designed to offer users the benefits of combining infrared spectroscopy with a polariser. Polarised measurements provide additional information on the molecular structure of a sample, particularly the crystal or molecular orientation, and help in the accurate characterisation of materials.

The accessory is based on the existing PerkinElmer Universal ATR accessory and is suited to applications such as crystal structure analysis, polymer and fibre orientation studies and structural analysis studies of biomolecules such as protein.

The variable angle polariser can be removed for non-polarised measurements.

Additional benefits of the accessory include automatic recognition and checking by Spectrum 100 or Spectrum 400 instruments and an easy-to-clean diamond top-plate.
