Portable spectrophotometer

The HunterLab MiniScan EZ is an easy-to-use, portable, handheld colour measurement dual-beam diode-array spectrophotometer that is suitable for use on the factory floor, on the production line, in the warehouse or outdoors, eliminating the need to take samples back to the laboratory.

The product provides the user with instant, accurate data anywhere and the measurements can be stored in memory for later printout or download. Up to 800 sample readings and 100 product standards can be stored.

The device is lightweight and ergonomically designed for operator comfort. The rubberised handle provides sure, one-handed use and eliminates hand fatigue when measuring a large number of samples. A thumb-tip button pad built into the handle provides convenient navigation of all functions. The large, easy-to-read LCD graphical display can rotate through four orientations for viewing from any position.

Users can choose from one of four configurations; 45°/0° or diffuse/8° geometry and each with either large area or small area view. The built-in software permits tailoring of up to 100 customised set-up configurations with product standard values and tolerances to suit specific product or customer requirements, as well as storage capacity for 800 measurements.

All commonly used illuminants, observers, colour scales, indices and metrics, colour difference indices and colour difference scales are provided with the MiniScan EZ. Results are displayed numerically or plotted graphically. If further processing or more data storage is required, HunterLab’s EasyMatch QC software is available.

The Xenon flash sample illumination requires little power and thousands of measurements can be made using standard AA batteries. A bar code scanner, external printer and PC can be connected via a USB interface.
