Scientifica IVM Mini Triple micromanipulator for in vivo research

Wednesday, 12 November, 2025 | Supplied by: SciTech Pty Ltd

Scientifica introduces the IVM Mini Triple, a compact and high-precision micromanipulator designed to remotely position multiple probes within in vivo samples. The innovative system enables high data quality for a range of applications, including in vivo electrophysiology, microinjection, and neural implant or optical fibre positioning.

Engineered for versatility, the product provides ultra-smooth, multi-axis control and stereotaxic accuracy, which should enable researchers to precisely position multiple probes simultaneously. Compatible with all major multielectrode recording systems — such as Neuropixels probes, in vivo patch clamp set-ups and microinjection systems — it offers high performance across diverse experimental needs.

With 20 nm resolution and a 20 mm travel range, the device is designed to deliver absolute positioning accuracy and complete freedom to navigate within a sample. Researchers can control the system using ergonomic, configurable hardware controls or via Scientifica’s intuitive LinLab software, which provides full customisation for seamless integration into any laboratory workflow.

Within LinLab, the Creeper function allows the manipulator to move smoothly over a defined distance and speed, for a precise approach to the region of interest. Alternatively, the Step function enables rapid, measured movements, suitable for inserting electrodes into cells with controlled precision.

Position coordinates can be viewed, stored, exported and recalled directly within LinLab, giving real-time X, Y and Z feedback at the sample site. This functionality is particularly valuable for auditory researchers and other scientists who wish to operate remotely without the need for a workstation near the experimental set-up.
