SimBiology pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling

Tuesday, 06 April, 2010 | Supplied by: MathWorks Australia

The latest version of the graphical and programmatic tool for computational systems biology and pharmacokinetics, SimBiology, provides new features and enhanced performance capabilities, including multiple dosing schemes, for pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modelling and simulation of biological systems.

Pharmacokineticists and computational biologists can use SimBiology to create, simulate and analyse both mechanistic and PK/PD models in one software environment. The tool simplifies the modelling workflow and reduces simulation and fitting times by providing a graphical interface for constructing mechanistic models.

With the new enhancements, users can select from multiple fitting algorithms, including stochastic approximation expectation-maximisation (SAEM) and compare results with other fitting algorithms. The tool’s graphical interface also now enables users to apply multiple dosing schemes to their models, eliminating the need to manually schedule dosing.

New features available in SimBiology include: SAEM algorithm for fitting population data; support for applying multiple dosing schemes to a model; enhanced support for importing NONMEM formatted files; and a new mode for accelerating simulations.
