Monday, 30 November, 2009 | Supplied by: Dutec Diagnostics Pty Ltd

Alba Bioscience has added Anti-S (weak) to its range of control reagents namely, Anti-c (weak), Anti-Fya (weak), Anti-K (weak) and Anti-E (weak).

These products are derived from a pool of donations containing a weak anti-c, weak anti-Fya, weak anti-K or weak anti-E. They are intended for use as a sensitivity control to confirm that the techniques and technologies employed in routine testing are capable of detecting weak IgG antibodies. These reagents can also be used a test of operator proficiency for staff training.

The products have been prepared from plasma collected from blood donors. Each individual donation contains: IgG anti-c, IgG anti-Fya, IgG anti-K and IgG anti-E. Some donations may contain IgG antibodies other than anti-c, anti-Fya, anti-K or anti-E as minor contaminants.

Conversion to serum was achieved by the addition of calcium chloride and, when required, thrombin. Excess calcium was removed by the addition of sodium oxalate. The formulation also contains 1 g/L sodium azide.
