Nucleosides play a significant role in antiviral and anticancer research. Biosynth offers a comprehensive selection of nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acid derivatives including ribonucleosides, 2’-deoxynucleosides, dideoxynucleosides and modified derivatives. Modifications to the sugar and/or the base include fluorination, methylation, amino and aza products. The company also offers a range of nucleosides and nucleotides designed for click modification, which has become an invaluable tool in biochemical research.

Nucleosides are integral building blocks of DNA and RNA, and play a key role in neurotransmission, as signalling molecules and in the regulation of cardiovascular activity. Due to their ability to interfere with the synthesis of nucleic acids and cellular repair systems, nucleoside derivatives act as anticancer agents and as sensitisers to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. They are also antimicrobial agents and used as antibiotics, antifungals and antivirals. Additionally, these molecules have applications in agrochemistry and have been used as herbicides and insecticides.

Biosynth’s nucleosides, nucleotides and derivatives are distributed by Sapphire Bioscience in Australia and New Zealand.
