As neutrophils sacrifice themselves through a cell death mechanism known as NETosis, they deploy neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) made of DNA and antimicrobial proteins, including elastase, that capture and kill pathogens. This behaviour is the subject of interest for immunologists and those conducting autoimmune research or inflammation research. Specific research areas include lupus, lung disease, thrombosis and more.
The Cayman Chemical NETosis Screening Set is used for screening a variety of NETosis modulators. It includes ~40 NETosis inducers and inhibitors, including modulators of neutrophil elastase, protein arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4), toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1). The set can be used with Cayman’s NETosis Imaging Assay Kit or NETosis Assay Kit to evaluate NET production in vitro.
