CHROMagar MH Orientation is a chromogenic Muller Hinton agar which was developed to speed up result time by combining the chromogenic differentiation of the species in the sample and the antibiotic susceptibility test.
The tool allows a same-day result in both identification and susceptibility in the primary culture. For many microorganisms/antibiotics, the results can be read just after overnight incubation. In comparison, the concomitant traditional protocol takes 48 h. Due to the chromogenic reactions, diameters and/or inhibition zones are clearly defined.
The product has been used principally on samples from patients with ventilated associated pneumonia and urine tract infection. It may be useful in other cases.
