Poxviruses are viruses from the Poxviridae family. This family of viruses includes several types of infectious viruses that affect both humans and animals. One of the most recognised viruses in Poxviridae is smallpox, which has been mostly eradicated with the use of vaccines, while other strains such as the monkeypox virus have been spreading in countries around the world. Many viruses in the Poxviridae family have genetic similarities, allowing many of the same research tools to be used on multiple viral species.
ProSci’s vaccinia virus antibody is reactive with the Lister and MVA strains of Vaccinia and Monkeypox, and does not cross-react with Parainfluenza (1-3), RSV, Adeno, Influenza A and B or HSV1. Antibodies conjugated to FITC, HRP and Biotin are also available.
