Solabia animal-free peptones

Thursday, 20 May, 2021 | Supplied by: Cell Biosciences Pty Ltd

Solabia specialises in peptone production for culture media, fermentation and cell culture supplements using production centres in Europe and South America. In addition to its meat-based peptone range, recent regulatory pressure has seen the development of an extensive range of meat-free peptones. Six casein peptones, all of New Zealand origin, are available from Solabia, including tryptone, acid hydrolysate of casein and a kosher casein peptone using non-animal enzymes.

An extensive range of soy-based peptones is also available, with the latest addition being ‘Soy Evolution’. Unlike other plant peptones at Solabia, Soy Evolution uses a cascade of enzymes reacting in synergy. The resulting molecular weight and amino acid profiles provide good results for both gram-positive and gram-negative strains, including more difficult-to-grow anaerobic varieties. GMO security, kosher and Halal certification is available for most plant-based peptones.
