Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics, the first 'full service diagnostics' company in the world, will begin operation in Australia and New Zealand on 1 June.

"We are employing over 100 people in Australia and New Zealand, bringing together the entire medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics and clinical IT value chain under one roof, bridging the gap between in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostics," said Nino Totino, general manager for Australia and New Zealand.

"Our team offers a unique capability of expertise and technologies in diagnostic imaging, healthcare IT, molecular biology and biochemistry to our customers."

The company is the integration of Bayer Diagnostics and Diagnostics Products Corporation (DPC), which were acquired by Siemens Medical Solutions in July 2006 and merged into a single business this year.

The company will offer a comprehensive portfolio for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of illnesses, including: adrenal/pituitary dysfunction; allergy; anaemia; diabetes, reproductive and thyroid disorders; infectious diseases; kidney ailments; cardiology; oncology; diabetes and virology.
