Queensland Govt launches life sciences competition

Queensland Minister for Science Leeanne Enoch has announced the first ever ‘Experience Queensland Life Sciences’ online competition — an initiative that is intended to put the state’s life sciences industry on the map.

The competition is targeted at life sciences industry representatives in Australia and overseas, encouraging attendance at this year’s AusBiotech conference in Brisbane. It was announced by Enoch at the sixth annual Life Sciences in Parliament event, held last week by Life Sciences Queensland.

“The prize is for two full delegate conference passes to attend this year’s AusBiotech conference in Brisbane, from 31 October to 2 November, which is the major life sciences industry event in Australia this year,” Enoch said.

“It includes return airfares, accommodation and an opportunity to link in with visits to life science institutes in regional Queensland for satellite events and a glamping experience.”

Enoch said the annual AusBiotech conference will attract representatives from the life sciences industry, including medical device manufacturers as well as medical, industrial and agricultural biotechnology firms. She added that the Queensland Government will also use the upcoming BIO International Convention in Boston from 4–7 June to attract international interest in the competition.

Competition entrants are required to write in 25 words or less why they want to experience Queensland life sciences during the AusBiotech conference. The two best entrants will be judged the winners.

The competition closes on 30 June, with the winners to be announced shortly afterwards. To enter, click here.
