Sale of Applied Biosystems' mass spectrometry business
The sale of Applied Biosystems' mass spectrometry business to Danaher Corporation will result in the formation of a new Danaher operating company that is dedicated to mass spectrometry and related analytical technologies.
The new company will be known as AB Sciex. It is a separate legal entity unrelated to Life Technologies/Applied Biosystems and customers will need to establish AB Sciex as a vendor for their future purchases.
From early 2010, Life Technologies/Applied Biosystems will no longer process new mass spectrometry product and service orders. During the transition to AB Sciex, ongoing service and support from Applied Biosystems will continue, including existing product warranties which will be managed by AB Sciex following the transition of the business. Any outstanding product and service quotes will continue to be honoured by Life Technologies/Applied Biosystems until the transfer of the mass spectrometry business to AB Sciex has been officially completed. On completion of the transfer of the business, existing service contracts will be transferred to AB Sciex, which will honour the terms and conditions of those contracts.
