Quantum Air Technology portable compliant isolator

The Quantum Air Technology portable compliant isolator (PCI) is a portable glove box that can be used for infection control on hospital wards; clinical trials; gene therapy; monoclonal antibody preparation (MABS); chemotherapy reconstitution; military medical use within field hospitals, suspect mail and white powder attacks.

It is capable of operating in both type 1 (positive pressure) and type 2 (negative pressure) modes. In addition to being a fully compliant isolator, the PCI can also operate as a fully compliant Class 3 microbiological safety cabinet with only its exhaust fan running. The isolator is designed for use on hospital wards, when access to the central aseptic suite is not available. As such, it is portable with internal batteries that sustain operation.

When used as a Class 3 MSC totally the enclosed glove box is suitable for the safe handling of suspect mail and packages. Purpose designed to meet all international standards for microbiological safety cabinets and isolators, the unit offers complete protection from any surface or airborne contaminants, whether microbial or toxic. Unlike an open-fronted safety cabinet, it is a barrier system that does not rely on airflow to provide protection. This is claimed to provide a greater level of safety that can be reliably used up to the most hazardous category (CAT 4) of pathogen.

Suitable applications include monoclonal antibody preparation, gene therapy containment, clinical trials.

Features include: claimed outset cost being less than 1/3 that of standard isolators; extended service intervals; low running costs as the unit consumes less power than a 60 W light bulb.

Its ergonomic design enables good visibility and height adjustability to suit any operator, allowing the safe handling of drugs and apparatus.

It is space efficient and its flexible operation gives product or operator protection optimised at the press of a button sequence. It provides a mobile sterile environment that can run on the unit’s internal batteries without the need of mains power and it is licensed for drug manufacture with full DQ and IQ documentation.
