Accurate and timely microbial quantification remains a persistent challenge across microbiology, biotechnology and quality control laboratories. The QUANTOM Tx Microbial Cell Counter from Logos Biosystems offers an image-based alternative designed to deliver rapid, single-cell resolution bacterial counts.
The QUANTOM Tx is designed to provide automated fluorescence microscopy combined with advanced image analysis software. After staining and loading samples into dedicated counting slides, the system captures multiple high-resolution fields of view and applies a bacteria-optimised algorithm to identify and count individual cells, even within dense aggregates or chains. This is designed to enable single-cell detection across a broad size range, including bacteria as small as 0.3 µm.
The workflow is designed for simplicity and reproducibility. Samples are stained using total or viability dyes, immobilised via a dedicated centrifugation step and analysed automatically using built-in autofocus and multi-image acquisition. The system is designed to provide both total and viable cell counts, supporting applications where distinguishing live from dead cells is critical.
By removing reliance on culture-based methods and reducing user-to-user variability, QUANTOM Tx is designed to enable faster decision-making in applications such as fermentation monitoring, antimicrobial testing and microbial research.
