Transcreener HTS assays are a universal, high-throughput screening platform for thousands of nucleotide-dependent enzymes, such as kinases, ATPases and GTPases. The kits are based on the direct detection of nucleotide enzyme products by highly specific antibodies that are able to differentiate between nucleotides on the basis of a single phosphate or even a methyl group.

While most other screening assays utilise coupling reactions, the direct direction method minimises the chance for compound interference, requires less handling and adopts a simpler protocol. The reagents in the assays are very stable molecules and can be stored for long periods at room temperature.

Unlike the transient signals from some coupled enzyme assays, the Transcreener fluorescent signals persist at least overnight - some for days - so plates can be read long after the detection reagents are added. The single-step, mix-and-read format, with 8 h deck and signal stability, allows for easy automation. These properties make the assays easy to use in an automated HTS environment.
