Cayman Chemical Efferocytosis Assay Kit
Cayman Chemical’s Efferocytosis Assay Kit is a convenient tool to study modulators of efferocytosis, pro-resolving mediators and cross presentation. The kit employs CytoTell Blue to visualise effector (phagocytic) cells, CFSE to visualise bait (apoptotic) cells and staurosporine, a protein kinase C inhibitor, to induce apoptosis. Each kit contains sufficient reagents to stain 5 x 107 effector cells and 2 x 108 bait cells.
Efferocytosis is a specialised form of phagocytosis in which macrophages and other phagocytic cells clear dead and dying cells to promote homeostasis, embryonic development, regulation of the immune system and the resolution of inflammation. Efficient clearance of apoptotic cells is essential for the removal of the nearly 1 million cells per second undergoing in a human adult. Efferocytic removal of apoptotic cells before they become necrotic and release their contents can prevent an immune response to these non-pathogenic antigens.
