Innova Biosciences imm-Link Immunogen Linking Kits are claimed to simplify the conjugation of haptens to carrier proteins. Large immune responses are stimulated by BSA, Ovalbumin and Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH) and are typically used as carrier proteins to generate antibodies against small antigens (eg, peptides or organic compounds ie, the ‘hapten’). To successfully stimulate the production of antibodies, the antigen needs to be covalently linked to a carrier protein.

The imm-Link conjugation kits covalently conjugate carrier proteins to haptens containing either sulfhydryl (R-SH), carboxyl (R-COOH) or amine (R-NH2) functional groups. The hands-on time to set up the conjugation reaction is typically 20-30 s. To start the conjugation reaction, it is as simple as adding a solution of the hapten to a proprietary lyophilised mixture containing the carrier protein. All the required conjugation chemistry components are supplied ready for use. The conjugation reaction is carried out at ambient temperature and is complete in 4 h. Following successful linking, the conjugate is dialysed, in the supplied dialysis cartridge, to remove unwanted by-products. The dialysed conjugate is now ready for use.

The conjugation kits are available in nine combinations of carrier proteins (BSA, Ovalbumin and KLH) and conjugation chemistries (sulfhydryl, carboxyl and amine) and in two kit sizes for convenience and ease of use.
