Lumiprobe CytoTracer fluorescent cell dyes

Lumiprobe has introduced the CytoTracer series of fluorescent cell dyes for labelling and tracking live cells, with the first three products in the line being CytoTracer Blue CMAC, CytoTracer Green CM-BDP and CytoTracer Orange CMTMR. The dyes rapidly penetrate cells, form intracellular membrane-impermeable products, and deliver bright, stable signals that persist for at least 72 h and are transmitted to daughter cells upon division.

All three dyes exhibit low cytotoxicity at working concentrations and are suitable for a wide range of in vitro and in vivo applications, including tracking cell migration, proliferation, viability and localisation. Because each dye’s chloromethyl group reacts with intracellular thiols, the label is retained after fixation and permeabilisation, thereby making the dyes compatible with subsequent immunofluorescence staining. The availability of blue, green and orange variants makes it easy to select the right dye for the user’s microscope configuration and to combine it with other fluorescent markers in multichannel experiments.
