Neogen ANSR for Salmonella molecular platform for pathogen testing

Tuesday, 19 June, 2012 | Supplied by: Cell Biosciences Pty Ltd

Cell Biosciences has launched the Neogen ANSR molecular platform on the Australian market. ANSR for Salmonella is the first pathogen test available for the system and provides results after only 10 min of reaction time, while other commercially available molecular amplification tests require up to 3 h. The product requires only a single reaction temperature, which eliminates the time-consuming heating and cooling cycles of the 20-year-old polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods.

ANSR is an isothermal amplification reaction test method that exponentially amplifies the DNA of any bacteria present in food and environmental samples to detectable levels in only 10 min. Combined with ANSR’s single enrichment step, Neogen’s pathogen detection method can provide DNA-definitive results for Salmonella in as little as 18 h from the time the sample is taken.

The system’s molecular-level accuracy, small benchtop footprint and simple procedure mean it can be easily incorporated into any testing laboratory’s existing setting and workflow. ANSR Listeria will be the next assay to be launched.
