Nominations are now open for the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering's Clunies Ross award for 2004.

The award has recognised and honoured 74 people since 1991 for the successful application of science and technology to the economic, social or environmental benefit of Australia.

There are no limits to the number of awards given each year, but recipients must show outstanding commitment and have made a major contribution to the application of science and technology in Australia.

Nominations close on July 31, 2003.

Award recipients will be publicly announced and presented with a unique 10 ounce silver medal, with the head of Sir Ian Clunies Ross on one side and the brolga, his favourite bird, on the reverse, at a dinner in March 2004.

Nomination forms and further information are available at www.cluniesross.org.au
