Two parallel high capacity Marconi optical networks are to be installed from north to south across Malaysia as the country commits to dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) technology to meet its growing internet demands.

The national networks, designed to provide extremely high bandwidth capacity for internet users, are being set up by Telekom Malaysia which has placed orders with Marconi for a comprehensive package of equipment, installation, training, commissioning and ongoing technical support.

The networks will be used by Telekom Malaysia primarily for its internet business, to provide high speed access for the rapidly increasing number of users going on line.
