Immunogold labelling is a method for localising a wide range of cellular molecules.

Immunogold labelling of ultra-thin sections on grids has traditionally been carried out completely by hand. The Leica EM IGL offers automatic immunogold labelling.

The Leica EM IGL offers many advantages such as the simultaneous labelling of 24 grids as well as the ability to use up to 24 different primary antibodies in one run. Automation with the EM IGL claims to save 80% of the users time. Specimen safety is ensured by applying the correct sequence of reagents and minimising cross con-tamination from forceps and loops during labelling.

Reproducible results can be achieved as the EM IGL follows the exact incubation times specified in the protocol. And it can operate overnight, making the laboratory even more cost effective.
