Ductless fume cabinets

Monday, 14 July, 2003 | Supplied by: Gallay Medical & Scientific Pty Ltd

The Captair range of ductless recirculating fume cabinets is suitable when the installation of a fully ducted system is difficult or uneconomical within an existing work environment. Duct route, exhaust location or existing walls can make a ducted system too expensive and complicated.

Rather than exhausting the toxic fumes and chemical vapours into the outside environment the Captair system uses a range of filtration options to physically remove toxic particles from the workplace. The specially designed activated carbon style filter is available in a number of surface treatment options to cater for organic solvents, acidic vapours, ammonia and formaldehyde. Achieved by both adsorption and absorption onto and into the 15 million m2 of carbon surface area.

When particle removal is required the HEPA and particulate style filter modules are available to remove the finer biological particles as well as sub micron solids.

Unit performance is continuously monitored via the flow alarm, this will alert the operator to a drop in airflow velocity. Hour run meters and face velocity indicators are also available to further indicate unit compliance to Australian Standards.

The Captair ductless fume cabinets are available in a range of standard sizes 800 up to 1200 mm in length and available in longer customised lengths if required.

Options available include trolley or bench mounted, services connections and a variety of bench work surfaces.
