Endotoxin and b-Glucan Determination

Seikagaku Corporation's Fungitec G Test is a highly sensitive enzymatic method for detection and quantification of (1-3)-b-glucan in the cell wall of fungi. Samples could include plasma and serum from patients with suspected invasive mycosis. The kit is designed as an end-point colourimetric assay and comes with all necessary reagents including a pretreatment set to limit interference and a b-glucan standard.

Seikagaku also provides an Endotoxin Test kit, which is designed for the quantitative determination of bacterial endotoxin in human plasma. This kit is specific for endotoxin and will therefore overcome any interference from b-glucan.

Both kits are based on the principle that a specific enzyme in the sample is activated by endotoxin or b-glucan and releases p-nitroaniline. A diazo-coupling reagent is then added and absorbance is read at 545 nm.
