The Tecan FARCyte is an advanced fluorescence and luminescence plate reader for all microplate formats and is optimised to perform in combination with the Gold CyDye red-shifted fluor range.

FARCyte complements Amersham Pharmacia Biotech's existing drug screening portfolio, which includes the LEADseeker homogeneous imaging system for ultra high-throughput screening and Scintillation Proximity Assay (SPA) for high-throughput screening. The integral software used in conjunction with the plate reader automatically selects the correct dichroic mirror and filters optimised for each CyDye fluor, eliminating the need for configuration.

FARCyte is suitable for by assay development groups and high throughput screening groups who need a sensitive reliable instrument. The integrated system provides maximum assay performance with ease-of-use.

The system features short measurement times, 80 seconds for a 1536-well plate, and any plate format up to 1536 wells for flexibility. Matched reagents in Gold toolboxes can be used for generic labelling and FRET. Automatic Z-optimisation allows the use of smaller sample volumes.

Gold CyDye fluors are from a single family of dyes and provide a number of beneficial characteristics such as high sensitivity and specificity, pH insensitive across the range 3-10, high DMSO tolerance, good aqueous stability and high photostability.

FARCyte offers a combination of speed, performance and flexibility of plate formats.
