Fourier transform infrared spectrometer

Shimadzu's FT-IR, the IR Prestige-21, offers an expandable wavelength range from near IR to far IR (12,500 to 240 cm-1) and features an S/N ratio of 40,000:1 or higher. This is achieved with a high sensitivity DLATGS detector, high throughput optical elements and a high intensity ceramic light source.

Running under Windows 2000, the 32 bit IR Solution software offers FDA 21CFR Part 11 compliance with security enhanced by obligatory entry of a username and password at start-up and the function to allow the use of electronic records and electronic signatures. Other features include atmospheric correction, flexible layout report generator, macro programming, self-diagnostics and monitoring, GLP/CFR Part 11 compliance, and a high-speed IEEE 1394 interface.

The Advanced Dynamic Alignment (ADA) system ensures the stability of the interferometer by keeping the interference conditions continually optimised during measurement. This feature ensures high stability and minimises instrument maintenance. The instrument incorporates triple protection to prevent deterioration of the beam splitter with a sealed interferometer, coated KBr plates with a moisture proof protective film and the use of an autodryer to reduce humidity.

Ease of use is provided by the Automatic Accessory Recognition feature, which automatically recognises an accessory when it is installed, sets a suitable method and validates it and reports the result. Two detector and two light sources can be mounted simultaneously. A range of QuickStart accessories is available.
