Gradient PCR in 384 Wells

The Eppendorf family of thermal cyclers includes the Mastercycler 384. It has been optimised for use in the modern high-throughput laboratory and is authorised and licenced for PCR.

The 384 thermal block enables a high sample capacity to be achieved and is designed for 384-well microtiter plates. Its geometry, adapted to the shape of the test tubes, ensures that the walls of all 384 tubes are in close contact with its metal walls. This not only accelerates thermal transfer to the sample, but also increases the homogeneity and reliability of the results.

A special cover design optimises sample handling: the specialised 384 lid is heated, which effectively prevents condensation in the upper areas of the tube. It is kept pressed on by a mechanism which solves the problem of evaporation. A defined sealing force ensures that the microtiter plate is always securely sealed during PCR.

Increased efficiency in the field of high sample capacity is achieved by the Mastercycler 384 using its option of gradient PCR. SteadySlope technology ensures the transferability of results from the optimising run to the normal run with uniform temperature distribution. The additional heating and cooling zone of the triple-circuit technology also allows accurate control of the temperature of all gradient profiles.
