Hiochi bacteria detection

Monday, 18 November, 2002

TaKaRa's BrewSAVE PCR Kit has been designed to detect Hiochi bacteria in brews such as beer and Japanese Sake using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The Hiochi bacterium is a gram-positive bacterium of Lactobacillus strain and is tolerant to 12-16% alcohol. Contamination by this bacteria stales and spoils brewed beverages. TaKaRa's BrewSAVE kit contains all of the reagents necessary to amplify the spacer region of Hiochi ribosomal DNA (including primers) specific to typical Hiochi bacteria.

Primers supplied are one universal sense primer and four anti-sense primers that can generate DNA fragments from a broad spectrum of Hiochi bacteria simultaneously in a single tube. Also included is a mixture of synthetic DNA (60 bp long) to ensure kit performance.
