Yukon is a PC Windows-based client/server application that integrates laboratory instruments to SampleManager LIMS.

Yukon acquires data automatically, thus eliminating transcription errors and reducing time normally taken writing or typing results. The Yukon PC networks to a SampleManager LIMS operating as a fully-integrated part of the client/server architecture. Yukon also has the ability to transfer data via a Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) link to other Windows applications that support DDE, such as Microsoft Office.

Yukon is capable of connecting to most instruments that either have an output transmitting ASCII via an RS-232 port or that can export data as an ASCII file. In addition, protocol converters enable instruments with parallel, IEEE or HP-IB outputs to be interfaced. Each Yukon PC can connect up to eight instruments with serial ports, and the number of Yukon PCs that can be connected to the SampleManager LIMS is effectively unlimited.

Yukon has been tightly integrated to SampleManager LIMS. Samples logged into SampleManager can be made available at the relevant Yukon PCs as and when they are needed. Yukon also supports multilevel product specifications that do not require calculation. This means that results captured by Yukon can be automatically compared against specifications stored in LIMS. If results are outside of specification the user has the option to accept or recapture the result.
