LabSystems has released SampleManager 2000 which can run on a wide variety of platforms including NT, Unix and OpenVMS. To allow customers to benefit from recent advances in the Oracle database management system, development and internal validation of the SampleManager 2000 server has been based on Oracle version 8.0.5 (a follow-up release of SampleManager based on Oracle 8i is imminent). The SampleManager 2000 client will run on Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000 operating systems.

SampleManager 2000 offers a number of significant functional enhancements. One example that demonstrates SampleManager's enterprise-centric design is Data Pipe which automates the multi-destination transfer of data to other departments and systems (eg, supervisory control and data acquisition or manufacturing resource planning) and departments. Examples of use include the automatic transfer of information to an accounting system on sample authorisation, or notification of results to a process historian that may be required to track LIMS results against process results.

Sample Plan is a decision tree-based function that defines and controls the sample process workflow.

Lot Management is a powerful review function to search on 'parent and child' lot information. Incident Management is for the management of unplanned, unforeseen events; and Statistical Sampling is the automation of statistical calculations for sample sizing.

SampleManager 2000 is designed to support laboratory operations and integrate those operations into the corporate enterprise. Industries served include manufacturing, chemicals and process, pharmaceutical, food and beverages, water, environmental and biotechnology. SampleManager 2000 has standard integration solutions to SAP R/3 and AspenTech's InfoPlus.21 process information management system and also integrates seamlessly with leading desktop applications.
